The company maintains approximately 239 temperature-controlled warehouses encompassing 1.4 billion refrigerated cubic feet of storage capacity, offering core products and services including frozen and chilled storage; handling services such as case-picking, blast freezing, produce grading and bagging, ripening, kitting, protein boxing, repackaging, and e-commerce fulfillment; transportation solutions encompassing consolidation, freight under management, dedicated transportation, and multi-modal global freight forwarding; and third-party warehouse management for food manufacturers and retailers. Americold serves food producers, processors, distributors, retailers, and importers across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America, with over 80% of revenues derived from the United States and minority interests in joint ventures including SuperFrio in Brazil and RSA in Dubai. Founded in 1903 with roots as the Atlanta Ice and Coal Company and headquartered at 10 Glenlake Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia, the company rebranded to Americold in 2013, went public as a REIT in 2018, and expanded through acquisitions such as Agro Merchants Group in 2021. Recent developments include the March 2025 acquisition of a Houston, Texas facility for $127 million to support a major global retailer's grocery contract, adding 35,700 pallet positions and 10.7 million cubic feet; 2024 announcements of expansion projects in Kansas City, Dallas Fort Worth, and Sydney, Australia; a post-2024 $79 million state-of-the-art development in Port Saint John, Canada with partners DP World and CPKC; a $34 million customer-driven expansion in Christchurch, New Zealand; Q2 2025 launches of demand-driven projects in Kansas City with CPKC, Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone with DP World; and ongoing Project Orion for ERP system implementation to enhance efficiency, revenue, and margins over three years.
